Dan is one of the old timers at Heiner's Bakery.

What does a horse know about bread?

You'd be surprised.

Long ago, horses helped farmers plow the fields, sow the seeds and harvest the wheat that makes flour, one of the main ingredients in Heiner's bread.

Other horses, like Dan and his buddy Russell, pulled a bread wagon.

Today, tractors, trucks and machines do the work and most horses have retired - except Dan.

Nowadays, he helps teach kids about Heiner's Bakery and the bread they eat.
